“Seasons change, You remain the same”

This year has been crazy. It’s brought a lot of change and confusion, but it’s also brought a lot of growth and perseverance. When I signed up for the race I imagined I would be in Africa right now. Due to covid-19, we spent our first 3 months in Georgia. The last 3 months on the race has truly been the most life changing season in my life so far. I’ve learned to surrender expectations and trust His timing. I’ve learned to see myself the way the Lord sees me: as His daughter, friend, bride, and everything in between. I’ve learned to place my identity in Him rather than how others view me. I’ve learned the importance of an encouraging community and choosing to pour into one another. I’ve made life long friends who I know will always be there to call me higher. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing leaders who show us what it means to be obedient to the Lord.

When I came home for Thanksgiving last week things didn’t go exactly as planned. Due to positive Covid cases throughout our squad we’ve been told to quarantine and stay home until launch. Thanks to everything I’ve learned on the race, I was able to take my initial emotions to the Lord and healthily process what it looks like to be home now. Although I miss my squad deeply, we’re so blessed with technology that allows us to facetime everyday (Hailey and I literally facetime 24/7). We’ll be continuing our usual schedule at home for the rest of December- this means quiet time, teachings, and team times every day. Then we’ll be reunited in early January and launch to Costa Rica!

The phrase “trust the wait, embrace the uncertainty” has been on my heart since being accepted to the race over year ago. We never know what life is going to throw our way, but we do know that God is steadfast through it all. Whether I’m in Africa, Gainesville, or Rhode Island… God is always with me. Psalm 91:11 says “God will command His angels to protect you wherever you go”. I’ve learned to trust Him throughout the process and embrace the unknown. His plan is always better anyway so why not trust it!

With that said, we ARE still launching to Costa Rica in January and I need to fundraise $3,000 more to stay on the race .I appreciate all the support and prayers! If you’re looking to support me financially you can donate directly on my blog or venmo me Becca-Engstrom-1.

Looking for a Christmas gift? I just relaunched my “trust the wait, embrace the uncertainty” shirts. If you order soon they will be delivered before Christmas! I’m selling tees, long sleeves, and crewnecks. Check them out here: https://www.bonfire.com/earth-tee-/
