This past week was one of my favorites from the race! I saw the Lord so clearly and I’m so excited to share all about it. Most days at ministry we do prayer walks, other days we visit several houses, sometimes we get to love on the kids, but this week we visited a new community! We started  the day with team changes and really didn’t know what was in store; but we ended up having some of the most memorable conversations.

Our team had the opportunity to talk to a Haitian family (mother and 2 children) who had just moved here recently. They invited us into their home and offered us chairs. At first we spoke the mother and then her older daughter (15) emerged from her room. The moment I saw her I felt the Lord telling me He was going to use me to speak to her. We introduced ourselves and asked to know more about them. They had just arrived to the DR after suddenly leaving Haiti due to unsafe conditions. [Many Haitians have shared heartbreaking stories of the frequent kidnappings and crime]. We sat with them and listened to their stories and they shared about their relationship with God and how He has protected them. It’s amazing to see their faith and trust in Him through all the pain they’ve endured, God is still good! They also opened up about their relationship with their father who had been living in the states working to provide for them financially. Jaime and I were able to share part of our testimonies to encourage them and share about our own walks with the Lord. The more we talked to them I felt God pulling me towards the older daughter. I could feel the pain in her eyes and the joy deep down inside of her. We asked her what she knew about God and got to tell her how loved and seen she is. She told us how she believed in God but didn’t want to accept Him into her heart because she didn’t want to live a new life. We were able to explain how walking with Christ involves surrender and sacrifice but is sooo much more fruitful and fulfilling. As we shared this she began to cry and go back into the corner of the room. We felt the Spirit moving in her heart. I felt the Lord calling me to be her friend and sister in that moment so I went and sat down next to her on the floor. She continued to cry and the Lord continued to flow into her heart. God definitely used me to comfort her in that moment, and show His love through me. She decided to accept Christ into her heart! Wow! So much celebration! We gathered around and prayed with her. She went from being shy and reserved to celebrating the joy of the Lord! We hung out for some more time and explained how excited we are for her!

Not everyday at ministry is as big as this, but this was definitely one of my favorites. God taught me how I hold authority and it comes from within Him. Even when I don’t feel useful He’s using me for His glory! Hope you enjoyed this look inside ministry in the DR. See ya soon!
